Your official JTR household goods limit, against a quick room-by-room estimate of what you actually own.
Your authorized household goods weight, JTR Table 5-37.
Tap through what you have. Weights are industry planning averages for furnished rooms, roughly 1,000 pounds per full room. Only the certified scale tickets from your move are official.
Professional books, papers, and equipment do not count against your allowance when declared in advance: up to 2,000 lbs for you and 500 lbs for your spouse. Uniforms, reference material, and trade tools qualify; declare them in MilMove or DPS before pack-out day.
Excess weight is billed to you at the government's cost per pound for your route, and it routinely runs into the hundreds or thousands of dollars. If the estimate above is close to your limit, declutter before the movers weigh in, or check whether a partial PPM move makes the math work in your favor.
Weight allowances are the official Joint Travel Regulations Table 5-37 figures, effective 2026. Room weights are planning averages, not official data; your actual shipment weight comes from certified scale tickets. Your Transportation Office has the final word.
